Research Requirements

The resident is required to develop a research proposal and answer a specific research question. This can be accomplished as an individual project or part of an existing study as long as the resident prepares a separate final manuscript.

Residents will select or be assigned a prepared and IRB approved protocol due to the time constraints of the program and the time required to obtain IRB approval for new protocols. Residents will then develop and submit a new research proposal that is acceptable to their research preceptor prior to completion of the sixteenth month of the program.

Specific milestones are established and residents are expected to meet them as they progress towards their final project. These milestones are minimums and residents should strive to beat these suspense dates well in advance. These milestones are as follows:
