Joe McKinney, Professor of International Economics and Associate Director of McBride Center for International Business

Hi! My name is Joe McKinney. I teach international economics to both economics majors and to international business majors. I am also Associate Director of McBride Center for International Business and Advisor for International Business majors.

I began my professional career at University of Virginia, but have been a member of the Baylor faculty for many years. Shortly after arriving at Baylor, my family and I had the opportunity to live for a year in Japan where I taught at Seinan Gakuin University. I have also served as Fulbright Professor to universities in London and Ottawa, and have also taught at a university in France. I travel abroad with some frequency to attend conferences or to give lectures. I have a strong interest in all things international.

I have taught courses in economic development, labor economics, and international economics. I have a keen interest in the poor people of the world and in exploring ways to help them. I also am interested in Christian missions. My major research has been in the field of international trade policy, although I have also done research in the area of business ethics.

My wife, Nancy, and I were childhood sweethearts while growing up in the mountains of North Carolina. Family is very important to us. We have two children and four grandchildren. Both of our children graduated from Baylor. Our daughter is married to a seminary professor from India who is completing his Ph.D. degree at Dallas Theological Seminary, and they have a 7 year old daughter and a 4 year old son. They will be returning to India later this year. Our son and his wife also have two young children. They live in the Dallas area and are employed in the software industry.
