WACO, Texas (Oct. 10, 2012) - The Baylor University Bookstore will join the variety of activities planned for Parent and Family Weekend with an in-store Book Signing event on Saturday, Oct. 13, for visitors to meet and have books signed by a range of local authors and Baylor alumni.

WACO, Texas (Oct. 9, 2012) - Justin Shubow, chairman of the National Civic Art Society in Washington, D.C., will be hosted by the Honors College at Baylor University for a lecture on, "A Monumental Fight: The Eisenhower Memorial and America's Historical Memory." The event will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in the Alexander Reading Room of Alexander Residence Hall, 1413 S. Seventh St.

WACO, Texas (Oct. 9, 2012) -- Nearly 80 inmates have become seminary students at a Texas maximum security prison in a program committed to sending "field ministers" to other prisons. Baylor University's Institute for Studies of Religion (ISR) has been awarded a $1.3 million grant to study the impact of that program and a similar one at a Louisiana maximum security prison.

Waters, Ph.D., Holder of the Endowed Chair in First Americans Studies and professor of anthropology and geography at Texas A&M University. His lecture entitled "In Search of the First Americans" will take place at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, in the Baylor Science Building, Room B.110.

Sloan Jr., Ph.D., will give an address on "Read, Watch, and Pray: A Charge to the Custodians and Prophets of the Great Texts." The third annual lecture hosted by Baylor University's Honors College will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Alexander Reading Room of Alexander Residence Hall, 1413 S. Seventh St.

WACO, Texas (Oct. 5, 2012) -- Baylor University art and theatre students are joining to re-interpret a 1964 "performance art" by Yoko Ono as a tribute to a work that has been interpreted variously through the decades as anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-ageist and -- both during the Vietnam War and in the wake of 9/11 -- as pro-peace.
