"I order business cards as soon as I know the room number, phone number, and email address. When you are getting the cards ready to order, you can email the future faculty a pdf to approve. When the cards are ready, I mail them a 100 or so. Many times the faculty will be attending conferences before they get here and want to let colleagues know of their move. They also have contacts at their current university that will want their information.
I think it makes them feel that we are really excited about them coming and are going to really take care of them."
