There are six types of quarks, called flavors (up, down, charm, strange, top and bottom). Weak interaction processes are responsible for flavor-changing transitions. Measurements of rare flavor-changing decays, flavor oscillations due to neutral meson-antimeson mixing, and related phenomena such as CP violation have been central to the development of the Standard Model of particle physics, and they continue to be central to the search for physical processes beyond the Standard Model.  Some recent examples will be discussed, primarily from the BABAR experiment at SLAC with B-mesons, and some promising opportunities will be described, including rare Kmeson decay experiments at Fermilab.=0D=0A=
