Title: The Naked Homeomorphism: The Mysterious Topology of Ordinary Space=0D=0A=
Abstract=0D=0A=
The title comes from a famous survey paper by Larry Siebenmann, "Topological Manifolds". The theme is two-fold...(a) mysterious phenomena (e.g. space-filling curves, the Alexander horned sphere) which manifest themselves when we move from talking about differentiable functions to just about continuous ones, and (b) the fact that these "monsters" actually, in the end, make the topological "zoo" a place of greater order and beauty than the differentiable one.
