A common perception in American culture today is that science and religion are inherently incompatible.  Although evolution is often assumed to contradict religion, many individuals (the speaker included) find no conflict between evolution and their faith.  This lecture will examine the differences between science and religion, what “evolution” actually means, what evidence supports it, and how it occurs.  Creationist viewpoints, particularly intelligent design, are examined and Biblical accounts of creation are compared. Results of modern Biblical scholarship reinforce the idea that faith and evolution need not conflict.
