Stephen Dunn was born in Forest Hills, New York, in 1939. After graduating from Hofstra University with a bachelor's degree in history in 1962, he earned an MA in creative writing from Syracuse University in 1970. He is a distinguished professor emeritus of creative writing at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, where he has taught since 1974. He has also taught at the University of Washington, Columbia University, Princeton University, and the University of Michigan, among other institutions. He currently lives in Frostburg, Maryland.=0D=0A=

Dunn's most recent collection of poems is Here and Now: Poems (2011). His other books of poetry include What Goes On: Selected and New Poems 1995-2009 (2009); Everything Else in the World (2006); Different Hours (2000), which won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry; New and Selected Poems: 1974-1994 (1994); Local Time (1986), which won the National Poetry Series; and Looking for Holes in the Ceiling (1974). He has also written Walking Light: Memoirs and Essays on Poetry (2001) and Riffs & Reciprocities: Prose Pairs (1998).=0D=0A=

Dunn's other awards and honors include the James Wright Prize from Mid-American Review, the Levinson and Oscar Blumenthal Prizes from Poetry, the Theodore Roethke Prize from Poetry Northwest, and the Academy Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He also is the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Guggenheim Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.=0D=0A=
