Stallings was born in Decatur, Georgia, in 1968. After studying classics at The University of Georgia, where she earned a bachelor's degree in 1990, she received an master of studies degree from the University of Oxford in 1992. Since 1999, she has lived in Athens, Greece, where her husband is editor of the Athens News, and she serves as director of the poetry program at the Athens Centre.=0D=0A=

Stallings's new volume, Olives, is forthcoming from Northwestern University Press in 2012. Her collection Hapax (2006) won the Poets' Prize in 2008. Her previous book of poetry, Archaic Smile (1999), won the Richard Wilbur Poetry Award. She also has translated Lucretius's De Rerum Natura (The Nature of Things), which was published in 2007.=0D=0A=

Named a fellow of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in 2011, Stallings has received a Pushcart Prize, the Eunice Tietjens Prize from Poetry, the Howard Nemerov Sonnet Award from the Formalist, the James Dickey Prize for Poetry from Five Points, and the Willis Barnstone Translation Prize from the Evansville Review. In addition, she is the recipient of a fellowship from the Guggenheim Foundation.=0D=0A=

Baylor University's 18th annual Beall Poetry Festival is a three-day celebration of some of the finest contemporary poets. It was established in 1994 by Mrs. Virginia B. Ball of Muncie, Ind., to honor her parents and to encourage the writing and appreciation of poetry.
