Batson, chair of the Baylor University Board of Regents, announced through a university press release the appointment of both a presidential search committee and presidential search advisory committee. In a public statement, Student Body President Bryan Fonville expressed disappointment with Batson's announcement, stating that the Regents' decision "was not in the best interest of Baylor."

Chelsea Saylors, a senior from Rowlett, Texas, is the only student representative chosen for the new presidential search advisory committee. The 10-member committee includes members of the Alumni Association as well as Faculty Senate. Saylors will begin committee work this semester and continue as a graduate student next year.
