President's Note

I wish to inform you that this afternoon we have delivered to BAA President David Lacy and Executive Director Jeff Kilgore a letter formally withdrawing our proposal that the BAA become part of an integrated alumni relations office within the university, rather than continue to exist as an independent organization separate and apart from Baylor. The failure of the BAA to respond to us directly, the actions taken at the recent annual meeting of the BAA board, as well as the public comments of the BAA leadership about the proposal have led us to this action. We noted in our original proposal that we have wonderfully supportive alumni who are ready, willing and able to become better involved in Baylor's future if we can reach them more effectively and provide them the infrastructure they need to rally around Baylor. As we reflect on the tremendous success of our recent homecoming celebration, we commit ourselves anew to creating an alumni relations program at Baylor worthy of this great university and of the thousands upon thousands of talented graduates who are the pride of Baylor University.
