Grad Coursework

Students must complete forty-five (45) semester hours for the degree of Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. A final written examination is required for this degree. The Master of Arts degree in communication sciences and disorders requires the completion of forty-two (42) semester hours, three (3) of which are earned by completion of a thesis.

Students without an undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders:

Students must take additional courses to meet requirements for state licensure and professional certification. The courses are CSD 1308, CSD 2318, CSD 2351, CSD 3308, CSD 3357, CSD 4302, CSD 4358, and CSD 4477 and one semester hour of CSD 5149. Students may request permission from the department chairperson or director of graduate studies to substitute previously earned credits for one or more courses.Graduate students must take the National Examination in Speech-language Pathology prior to graduation and submit their scores to Baylor University. Students completing the master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders will meet the coursework and practicum requirements for certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and for licensure by the state of Texas.

Certain graduate courses are required of all students to ensure that students are exposed to a variety of areas in speech-language pathology and audiology. These courses are:
