Moving Out - Spring 2015 Helpful Hints

Residents must schedule a check-out inspection with a CL. Residents who fail to meet with a CL forfeit their right to be present while their room is inspected for cleanliness and will be issued an improper check-out fee.

Residents should schedule an appointment with a CL at least 24 hours in advance. It is imperative that you are ready for your appointment time when the CL comes to check your room.

If you miss your scheduled check-out time or you are not ready when the CL comes, you forfeit your right to a CL inspection before check-out.

When vacating your room, please return all furniture to its original location and leave the room in clean condition. Remove any decals, tape, sticky tack, etc. from the inside and outside of your room door and closet woodwork.

You may obtain a broom or vacuum cleaner at the front desk, but please be aware there is a limited supply of these items and there may be a waiting list. You are responsible for the cleanliness of your room regardless of the availability of cleaning items at the front desk. Please plan accordingly.

If you have any questions about the check-out process, don't hesitate to ask your Community Leader or Hall Director.

Remember to clean the following areas:

  • Bookshelves
  • Window sills
  • Desk drawers (inside and out)
  • Chest of drawers (top and all sides)
  • Closet shelves
  • Desk (top and all sides) and chair
  • All wall areas that are dirty and/or have tape marks
  • Remove carpet (personally owned)
  • Clean floors (sweep or vacuum)
  • Sinks and mirrors
  • Kitchens (oven, refrigerator, cabinets, etc.) - apartments only
  • Bathroom sinks, toilets, and showers (suites, private baths, and apartments)

All trash and abandoned items are to be taken to the dumpster near your hall or apartment complex. If the dumpster is full, trash should be bagged and placed next to the dumpster.

  • Be sure to go by the Mail Services Center to leave your forwarding address and return mailbox key.
  • Please remember to take your bicycle with you.

If you have the need to leave your belongings in Waco over the summer (i.e. you live out of state), there are a few storage facilities that are located nearby Baylor campus. No items may be left in the room. See the map below for locations.
