People to Know
Our communities are filled with people who are here to support you and who want to get to know you!
Community Leader (CL)
Community Leaders are responsible for mentoring 30-60 residential students who live near each other in a residential community. The most important aspects of the Community Leader role are fostering relationships, promoting academic exellence, guiding spiritual formation and developing diverse communities that are mindful of Baylor's values and standards.
Residence Hall Director (RHD)
Residence Hall Directors are full time master's level professionals who live in the residential communities. These staff members supervise the Community Leaders and work to create an environment that promotes academic success, physical safety, and authentic community. The RHD's offices can be found in common areas of your community. Hall Directors are excited to get to know residents and make your residential experience a positive one.
Assistant Residence Hall Directors (ARHD)
Assistant Residence Hall Directors are full-time professional staff members who live in the three largest residential communities. The ARHD partners with the Residence Hall Director in overseeing the hall community and is also available to support residents.
Graduate Apprentice Residence Hall Directors (GARHD)
Graduate Residence Hall Directors are full-time graduate students in the Higher Education and Student Affairs program. These students are completing an apprenticeship in addition to their studies and live in the residential communities. They also assist and partner with the Residence Hall Director and are an important resource available to residents.
Resident Chaplain (RC)
The Resident Chaplains are Truett Seminary Students working on a master's degree to prepare them for the ministry. They live in the residential communities and are responsible for assisting residents in spiritual formation and providing a pastoral presence in the communities.
Safety and Security Education Officers (SSEOs)
SSEOs are highly visible staff members who work closely with after-hours personnel to maintain the safety and security of our residential communities. SSEOs are on duty between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Program Directors are full-time professional staff, faculty, or graduate apprentices who work for departments that collaborate with CL&L in facilitating living-learning programs.
Faculty-In-Residence (FIR)/Faculty Masters
These faculty members live in apartments located within our Living-Learning Program areas. Faculty in the program have a unique perspective on student life and opportunities to interact with students in learning outside the classroom. Students living in these halls have the opportunity to develop friendships and mentoring relationships with these faculty members and their families. Faculty Masters are faculty-in-residence who live in Residential Colleges, providing leadership for the community and cultivating scholastic pursuits within the College.
Faculty Partners (FPs)
These faculty members are selected by our Community Leaders (CLs) to bring an important faculty presence to our traditional and apartment-style residence halls. FPs work with their CLs to organize special events and activities to share with residents. Whether sharing a meal in one of the dining halls, going to a Baylor event together or attending a floor movie night, Faculty Partners get involved and assist in successful student transition throughout the year.
Faculty Fellows engage regularly in the community and academic life of a particular Residential College or Living-Learning Center.
