Dawson Hall houses approximately 185 first-year and upper-class women and is home to the Leadership Living-Learning Center. Dawson Hall shares these LLCs with its male counterpart, Allen Hall. The Allen/Dawson community has a full-time, professional Hall Director who lives in Allen and has an office in Dawson. In addition, the community has a Faculty in Residence who lives in Dawson and a Resident Chaplain who lives in Allen.

  • Only flowers may be sent to Dawson Hall at 722 Baylor, Waco, TX 76706.
  • Mail Services will mail your box information in early to mid August.

Bathrooms

  • Bathroom types are suite, private, and/or small community bathrooms. The bathrooms have showers, sinks, medicine cabinets and toilets.

Charges

  • Each room is checked for damages before you move in, and when you move out. You will be charged for any damages that occur during your stay.

Closets

  • There is one closet per resident in each room. They are designed with sliding doors, storage shelves, and hanging rods.

Computers

  • Each resident is provided with one high-speed Ethernet data port to connect personal computers to the residential network. For more information on residential technology offerings, please visit http://www.baylor.edu/cll/restech.

Dining Options

  • There are 4 dining options in the residence halls (Brooks College, Collins, Memorial, and Penland) and a food court available with declining balance or cash payment options in the Bill Daniel Student Center.
  • Java City, located on the garden level of Moody Memorial Library, serves sandwiches and coffee for declining balance or cash payment.
  • The Seasons Sushi is located in the North Village Community Center and provides made to order sushi favorites.
  • Atrium Cafe in the Baylor Science Building.
  • All incoming freshmen are required to purchase a minimum 11-meal plan.

Elevators

  • Elevator access is available for each floor.

Floors

  • All floors are covered with neutral vinyl tile.
  • You may bring your own carpet, or you may order carpet during the summer at Collegiate Bed Loft Company. Information about this option will be sent to your home. Your purchased carpet will be in your room when you arrive in August; however, you will have to unroll, cut and place the carpet yourself. Carpet tape cannot be used.
  • You may check out brooms, mops, and vacuum cleaners from the hall office.

Furniture

  • Each room is furnished with a matching standard twin bed, desk, chair, and dresser for each resident. All furniture is movable, but must remain in the room and not be dismantled, stacked, or raised off the floor. Dressers, desks, and bookshelves have identical height and depth of tops for side-by-side furniture arrangement for additional work space.
  • The bed is adjustable to allow for various height settings, ranging from residential to junior loft. There is ample space for storage under the bed.
  • The desks are 24 " deep, 42" wide, and 30" high. They have one drawer, shelves at the side, and pullouts for increased work space.
  • Roommates share the 54" by 20" dresser, which has four drawers for each resident. (In a three-person room, there is an additional four-drawer chest.)

Kitchen Facilities

  • Full kitchen facilities are located on each floor with a range and oven and a full size refrigerator.
  • Microwaves are located on the first floor of each residence hall by the front desk. Only approved Microfridges are allowed in student rooms.
  • Each room is allowed one small refrigerator, which must be 1.5 amps or less, no more than 36 inches tall, and grounded. You may bring your own, or rent one.
  • Campus Living & Learning has partnered with Collegiate Concepts, Inc. to provide on-campus residents the option to rent or purchase a MicrofridgeTM. Microfridges are all-in-one units that have a refrigerator, freezer and microwave.

Laundry Facilities

  • Each floor has multiple ironing boards, but you will need to bring your own iron.

Lobby

  • The lobby has a TV room and a large drawing room with a grand piano.

Study Rooms

  • Study rooms are located on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors.

Telephone

  • One telephone line per room is provided.
  • Telephone instruments are not provided.
  • To call long distance students should purchase a calling card.
  • Your telephone number will be included with your room assignment information.

Television

  • Residents may bring their own televisions. Cable TV is provided (one cable outlet per room).
  • Televisions may not be hung from the wall.

Walls

  • All walls are painted cream. Resident may not paint the walls.
  • Please do not use chalk, nails, or tape on the walls. Hang items using "S" hooks that fit into the wall crevice (18-22" from the ceiling). Lighter-weight items may be attached to the wall with sticky-tack (white is recommended).

Windows

  • Curtains are best hung on tension rods inside the windows.
  • Mini-blinds are on all windows and must remain in place.
