Memorial Hall houses 201 women as part of the Honors Residential College. Students must be in the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (a.k.a., "BIC"), Honors Program, University Scholars or Great Texts program in order to request this building. The staff is led by a full-time professional Hall Director who lives in the building.

Students must apply to be a member of the HRC.

  • Flowers may be delivered to Alexander Hall at 1413 S. 7th St, Waco, TX 76706
  • Mail Services will mail your box information in early to mid August.

Bathrooms

  • Suite baths are located between two rooms. There are 12 private bathrooms and 2 cove (community) bathrooms. All bathrooms have a tub/shower combination, a sink with a mirror above, and a toilet. Housekeeping cleans only the cove bathrooms.

Charges

  • Each room is checked for damages before you move in, and when you move out. You will be charged for any damages that occur during your stay.

Closets

  • There is one closet per resident in each room. The closet is approximately 87" high, 50" wide, and 23 ½" deep.

Computers

  • Residents may check out laptops the front desk for a period of 4 hours. Laptops are renewable unless there is a waiting list.
  • Residents may also bring personal computers. Each resident is provided with one high-speed Ethernet data port to connect personal computers to the residential network. For more information on residential technology offerings, please visit http://www.baylor.edu/cll/restech.

Dining Options

  • There are 4 dining options in the residence halls (Brooks College, Collins, Memorial, and Penland) and a food court available with declining balance or cash payment options in the Bill Daniel Student Center.
  • Java City, located on the garden level of Moody Memorial Library, serves sandwiches and coffee for declining balance or cash payment.
  • The Seasons Sushi is located in the North Village Community Center and provides made to order sushi favorites.
  • Atrium Cafe in the Baylor Science Building.
  • All incoming freshmen are required to purchase a minimum 11-meal plan.

Elevators

  • There is elevator access to each floor.

Floors

  • All floors are covered with neutral vinyl tile.
  • You may bring your own carpet, or you may order carpet during the summer at Collegiate Bed Loft Company. Information about this option will be sent to your home. Your purchased carpet will be in your room when you arrive in August; however, you will have to unroll, cut and place the carpet yourself. Carpet tape cannot be used.
  • You may check out brooms, mops, and vacuum cleaners from the hall office.

Furniture

  • Each room is furnished with a matching bed, desk, and chair for each resident. All furniture is movable, but must remain in the room and not be dismantled, stacked, or raised off the floor.
  • The bed is a standard twin and has bookcase headboards.
  • Please furnish your own mattress pad.
  • The desks have a center drawer and computer tray front, 28 ½" deep and 36 ½" wide desk tops and bookshelves above with an attached bulletin board and a built-in light.
  • There is one six drawer dresser per person which measures 22 ½" wide, 57 ½"" high, and 17 3/8" deep.

Kitchen Facilities

  • Full kitchen facilities are located on the 4th floor with a range and oven and a full size refrigerator.
  • Microwaves are located on the first floor of each residence hall by the front desk. Only approved Microfridges are allowed in student rooms.
  • Each room is allowed one small refrigerator, which must be 1.5 amps or less, no more than 36 inches tall, and grounded. You may bring your own, or rent one.
  • Campus Living & Learning has partnered with Collegiate Concepts, Inc. to provide on-campus residents the option to rent or purchase a MicrofridgeTM. Microfridges are all-in-one units that have a refrigerator, freezer and microwave.

Laundry Facilities

  • Washers and dryers are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

Lobby

  • A large drawing room with a grand piano.

Study Rooms

  • Study rooms are located on the 1st and 4th floors.

Telephone

  • One telephone line per room is provided.
  • Telephone instruments are not provided.
  • To call long distance students should purchase a calling card.
  • Your telephone number will be included with your room assignment information.

Television

  • Residents may bring their own televisions. (May not be hung from walls)
  • Cable TV is provided (one cable outlet per room).

Walls

  • All walls are painted cream. Resident may not paint the walls.
  • Please do not use chalk, nails, or tape on the walls. Hang items using "S" hooks that fit into the wall crevice (18-22" from the ceiling). Lighter-weight items may be attached to the wall with sticky-tack (white is recommended).

Windows

  • Curtains are best hung on tension rods inside the windows or on small rods held by "S" hooks that fit into the wall crevice above the window.
  • Mini-blinds are on all windows and must remain in place (but may be pulled to the top of the window if you prefer).
