Brooks College proudly stands in a tradition stretching back to Western civilization’s first universities. Amidst the medieval colleges of Oxford, Cambridge and Paris, among others, life took on a distinctive shape. Students joined together with teachers, as apprentices to masters, not merely to learn about ideas, or acquire technical proficiencies, or prepare for careers. Above all, their aim was to become well-formed human beings.
To yearn for a full and purposeful life—and to practice within a close-knit community the disciplines of mind, heart and soul that ennoble human existence—constitute the enduring ideals to which we aspire.
I encourage you to explore the promise of life together with us during your years at Baylor. We cherish ideas, practices and virtues that have stood the test of time. Through them, we know you will flourish, and within our community, you will be challenged and prepared for life at its best.
All the best,
Douglas V. Henry, Ph.D.
