Research in Classics
Students in the Classics Department are involved in a variety of research activities. Some have participated in archaeological field schools around the Mediterranean region. Several of our students are either University Scholars or intend to graduate with honors. These students work closely with a faculty mentor to write a thesis. Our students have written on a variety of topics ranging from Plato to Virgil to the Apostle Paul.
Several of our students present papers at the APA and CAMWS meetings. Some of our students assist faculty members in their research by compiling bibliography, transcribing notes, or editing manuscripts. We have also had students work on electronic projects, such as an web-based text and commentary on the poetry of Catullus.
