Timothy Heckenlively, Lecturer in Classics

Timothy HeckenlivelyTim Heckenlively (B.A. Hillsdale College, M.A., Ph.D. University of California, Santa Barbara) specializes in Archaic Greek Poetry, especially the Hesiodic corpus and the poetics of literature originating in oral tradition. His other interests include Greek Tragedy, Indo-European studies, Greek mythology and religion, Near-Eastern influences on Hellenic culture, comparative religion, and Patristics. He has written on the description of horror within the Pseudo-Hesiodic Aspis. His current research addresses the conceptualization and iconography of terror, violence, and death in Archaic Greece.
