Tommye Lou DavisProfessor Tommye Lou Davis serves as an Associate Dean of the Honors College and is a Master Teacher of the University. As a member of the Classics Department, she has taught Latin at Baylor since 1966. In 2003, Professor Davis became the chief of staff to President Robert B. Sloan, Jr. She returned to the classroom in the fall of 2007. She has served as a member of the Faculty Senate and on the board of directors for the Baylor Alumni Association. Davis also chaired the George W. Bush Presidential Library Committee and in 2005 she made the presentation on behalf of the university to the Bush Presidential Library Advisory Committee in Washington, D.C. Actively involved in Greek life on campus, Davis has served as faculty adviser for Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was selected the Outstanding Adviser on Campus in 1996. She also is the adviser for Alpha Chi Honor Society. She was named Outstanding Professor by the Baylor Women's League for 2001-02 and was presented with the Mortar Board Circle of Achievement Award in fall 2002 in recognition of her outstanding teaching and service to students. Davis was chosen in 1994 as the recipient of Baylor's Moon Mullins Award for meritorious service. Davis is actively involved in the Waco community serving presently as the sustaining advisor to the board of the Junior League of Waco and also as vice president of the Waco Mammoth Site Foundation Board. She serves on the steering committee for Waco's Community Visioning Committee. She is a member of the American Philological Association and of CAMWS. Professor Davis is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Waco.
