Alden Smith, Professor of Classics

Alden Smith serves as Associate Dean of the Honors College. His research interests are in Latin poetry, specifically the poetry of Virgil and Ovid. His latest book, entitled The Primacy of Vision in Virgil's Aeneid, came out recently from the University of Texas press (2006). A Master Teacher at Baylor, Dr. Smith is the recipient of the 2004 American Philological Association's Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Classics.

He is currently working on a book on Virgil for Blackwell.
