Welcome Families

for Baylor International Students
  • offer friendship to students a long way from home, family, and familiar culture;
  • allow families and students to learn about each other's cultures;
  • build bridges of understanding between peoples and among nations.
The Family commits for one semester to
  • call the student as soon as the assignment is made, identifying themselves as the Welcome Family and setting up a time to get together;
  • call several times during the first month to check on the student;
  • include the student in at least two off-campus experiences;
  • have the student in their home;
  • learn about their student's culture and country;
  • be a friend to the International student assigned to them;
  • notify Beth Walker if unable to continue in the Welcome Family relationship with their assigned student.
The International student commits to
  • accept invitations from the Welcome Family if at all possible;
  • let the Welcome Family know the best time of day to call you;
  • return all phone calls to the Welcome Family;
