Campus and Community Involvement
We offer a number of programs and services to international students to enrich and broaden their Baylor experience and to help in their adjustments. At the same time, these programs provide opportunities for U.S. students, Waco families, local students and other community members to meet Baylor international students and extend hospitality to them. We believe relationships established through these programs build bridges of understanding between peoples and among nations.

Welcome Families
Families from the Waco community who would like to extend friendship to Baylor international students apply to be a Welcome Family. Each international student who wishes to participate fills out an application requesting a family. Each student applicant is matched with a Welcome Family. As soon as the family receives an assignment, they contact the international student to set up a time to get together. The commitment of the family is to invite the student into the home for a meal during the semester, to give the student at least one other off campus experience, to enjoy learning about the student's culture, and to help the student better understand life in the United States. There are no deadlines for signing up. Participation is welcomed throughout the year.
PAWS
PAWS is intentional programming to make sure we welcome international students to Baylor, connect them with U.S. students, and better integrate them into the life of Baylor. Through PAWS Partners U.S. students are matched with international students, one on one, so that both can enjoy cross cultural friendship. International students and U.S. students share cultures and friendship in the simplest of ways---over cups of coffee, exercising together, going shopping, etc. U.S. students offer help with adjustments and if possible offer transportation to international students. Many participants have made strong and lasting friendships while broadening their knowledge of the world. These relationships contribute to internationalizing the Baylor campus and making sure international students have the best possible experience.
Baylor Internationals in the Schools Program
Local schools contact the Advisor for Campus and Community Involvement to invite international students to come to speak in classrooms. Specific dates and times are provided. Invitations with details are sent to the international student body via e-mail. Any international student who is available and would like to participate signs up. These school visits give the young students unique opportunities to learn about other countries and the people of those countries while also providing unique learning experiences for the international students.
