Master of Science

Degree Requirements

Most students will find it advisable to take several courses in their major field to assure adequate performance on the preliminary examinations. The student's thesis committee may require any coursework that it deems proper and advisable. In order to broaden the student's perspective of chemistry, an M.S. student must take a prescribed number of core courses selected from among the following areas: analytical, biochemical, inorganic, organic, and physical as set forth below. There is no foreign language requirement.

Note: The requirement for a minor field of study (as described in the Graduate Catalog) does not apply to the graduate degrees in chemistry.
