Climate and Clothing

Climate and clothing-- The climate at the CES is one of year-round springtime. Daytime high temperatures during July and August rarely exceed 85F, with night temperatures dropping into the 60's. July and August are the middle of the rainy season for this tropical region. Rains occur during late afternoon and early evening and usually do not interfere with class activities. You will need clothing appropriate for the class you are taking. Sturdy boots, heavy pants and shirts for terrestrial courses, while tee shirts, shorts, wading shoes (old tennis shoes) and a towel to dry off in the field, are appropriate for the aquatic courses. You also will find a sweater or light jacket comfortable for evenings. A rain coat and umbrella are advisable. Do not forget your suntan lotion and camera. If you wish to participate in the cultural trips (see below) to the city, you may wish to bring something a bit more dressy but nothing fancy. Guadalajara is the second largest city in México and is 500 years old and oozes with history and culture.
