Chelsea Stern is Music Associate at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth, TX where she is Director of the Fellowship Adult Choir, Youth Choir, Upper Elementary Choir and Adult Handbell and High School Handbell Ensembles as well as regularly serving as song enlivener in worship. She has previously served as Director of Music at Greenland Hills United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas, Music Intern at Highland Park United Methodist Church also in Dallas, Music Intern at Calvary Baptist Church in Waco, TX and Director of Children's Ministry and Children's Music at First Presbyterian Church in Temple, TX. A Licensed Kindermusik Educator, she has taught early childhood music in the preschool setting for over 10 years.
She holds the Master of Sacred Music degree from Perkins School of Theology, the Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University and the Bachelor of Music degree in Church Music from Baylor University. She was very active in singing in choral and opera ensembles during her time at Baylor and SMU and continues to sing oratorio and concert repertoire as well as regularly in worship.
Chelsea is an appointed member of the Presbyterian Committee on Congregational Song, the Presbyterian (PCUSA) committee that has now completed work developing the forthcoming Presbyterian Hymnal, Glory to God. She is a pre-school curriculum writer for Growing in Grace, a multi-age children's music curriculum project of Celebrating Grace, Inc. Chelsea is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, The Hymn Society in the United States and Canada, Choristers Guild, Presbyterian Association of Musicians and The American Choral Director's Association. Chelsea and her husband Chris, an R.N. in Fort Worth, enjoy serving in ministry together at FPC, Fort Worth.
