Caving: Whirlpool/Maple Run

Date: February 13th
Deadline to Register: February 11th
Location: Austin, TX
Times: 6:30am - 8:30pm
Meet: SLC
Prerequisites: None
Pre-Trip Meeting: None
Equipment Provided: Helmets, Knee Pads, Headlamps
Bring: Small bag to carry items, two water bottles MINIMUM, close-toed shoes, change of clothes & shoes, trash bag for dirty clothes, towel, spending money (we may make a stop).
Wear: Comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Long pants and closed-toed shoes required. Long-sleeve shirts recommended. You will get dirty!.
Cost: $50

Description: Join us for a fun day-long adventure, getting down-and-dirty in a Central Texas caving jewel. You will learn to love the incredible cave formations, being subterranean, and visiting a place few dare to venture. No experience necessary. All equipment provided.

Location: Grand Canyon National Park, AZ
Time: March 5th at 5:00am

Equipment Provided: Backpacking equipment, camping gear, professional instruction, food in the field and transportation

Location: Paria Canyon and Buckskin Gulch in Vermilion Cliffs National Monument
Depart: March 5 at 5:00am
Prerequisites: Run Bear Trail in 25 minutes or less

Description: Join Outdoor Adventure for a week of backpacking in the Paria Canyon/Buckskin Gulch along the Paria River. Paria is the longest contiguous slot canyon in the galaxy. Come for the adventure, amazing views, the stillness of the desert, and a chance to get away from it all. Travelers will hike for 5 days, starting in a narrow slot canyon and ending 40 miles later at the start of the Grand Canyon. Along with the experience of navigating narrow slot canyons, this trip challenges backpackers to traverse residual pools of water and mud – occasional dips aren’t a rare occurrence, and trekkers are likely to cross the river over 300 times through the canyon. Perseverence offers the adventurer a chance at one-of-a-kind canyon views. This trip always fills fast, so sign-up soon.

Spring Break: Colorado - Climbing/Snowshoeing

Date: March 5 - 12

Location: Durango & Ouray Colorado
Depart: March 5 at 5:00am
Prerequisites: Run the Bear Trail in under 25 minute; Climb to the top of the Rock wall.
Pre-Trip Meeting: Yes - TBD
Equipment Provided: Snowshoes, ice climbing tools, professional instruction, food in the field, and transportation

Description: If you have an adventurous spirit, love winter scenery, and want to make amazing memories in the snow-covered mountains of Colorado, this trip is for you! No climbing experience necessary. This trip will challenge you physically with snowshoeing in the mountains north of Durango, ice climbing and learning to build a snow shelter. There’s even a chance to stay in your shelter over night! Adventurers will climb the world famous Ouray Ice Park, a manmade ice climbing venue home to more than 200 climbs.

About Ouray Ice Park: The park spans a full mile of the Uncompahgre Gorge, with 7,500 feet of pipe and 150 showerheads spewing over 150,000 gallons of water on the canyon walls each night, making it one of the premier ice climbing locations in the world. Not to worry, though - our experienced staff will provide all technical instructions and beginners will learn to climb in a specially designed area before moving into the canyon.

Spring Break: Pecos River Expedition – Canoeing, Camping, Exploring

Date: March 6 - 11

Depart: March 6 at 6:30am – Return late on March 11
Prerequisites: Water comfort assessment in the SLC pool.
Pre-Trip Meeting: Mandatory - TBD

Cost: $500, includes equipment, transportation, lodging and food in the field

Description: If you are looking for a laid back, leisurely paddle, then the Pecos River is NOT it! This river is a treasure few take the opportunity to enjoy. This trip is a 5-day EXPEDITION in a remote wilderness with over 60 miles of canoeing and camping that excites and challenges the best adventurers. Good physical conditioning and thorough preparedness are a requirement.

About the Pecos River: An open canoe is your vehicle to the stark beauty of the deep canyons and the rough terrain of West Texas. The echoes of ten thousand years of habitation resound from every cliff and side canyon. The scenery is awesome - the river flows through the Texas part of the Chihuahuan desert near the Texas-Mexico border and emptying into the Rio Grande. Canyon walls, getting progressively larger as you move downriver, offer many side canyon trips to investigate and photograph. Lewis Canyon Ranch is the site of the largest petroglyph collection known to exist in Texas.

Description: Joshua Tree National Park is known around the world for its incredible rock climbing. Comprised of two different deserts, a high desert and a low desert, Joshua Tree boasts breathtaking views throughout the park. Its distance from large cities and mild weather make it a great place for star gazing. Come check this off your bucket list as we camp, hike, and climb as much of the park as we can in a week!

Saturday Adventure:Rock Climbing Reimer’s Ranch

Date: April 2
Deadline to Register: March 31
Location: Reimer’s Ranch Park, just outside of Austin, TX
Depart: 6:30am
Return: 6:00pm
Prerequisites: None
Pre-Trip Meeting: TBD
Equipment Provided: Climbing gear, lunch, professional instruction, and transportation
Bring: Small pack to carry items, two water bottles (minimum), close-toed shoes, additional spending money (we may stop).
Wear: Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing that allows for freedom of movement

Description: Outdoor Adventure is headed down to the beautiful Texas Hill Country outside of Austin, TX for a day of climbing at Reimer's Ranch Park. This trip is open to any skill or experience level, and costs includes all climbing gear & equipment, entrance fees, professional instruction, and an opportunity for great adventures with friends!

Saturday Adventure: Introduction to Whitewater Kayaking

Location: San Marcos or New Braunfels, TX
Meet: SLC
Depart: 6:30am - 8:30pm
Return: 8:30 pm
Prerequisites: Pre-Trip Clinics @ the Marina (date/time TBD)
Pre-Trip Meeting: Yes
Equipment Provided: Kayak, life jackets, and paddles.
Bring: Towel, a change of clothes, snacks, water bottle and money for dinner on the way home.
Wear: Clothes that can get wet, water shoes or old athletic shoes
Cost: $50 includes: Lunch, instruction, equipment, and transportation
Min/Max: 6/9

Description: This trip is perfect for the beginner or anyone who wants to spend the day on the water having fun. Paddling will take place on the San Marcos or Guadalupe Rivers. Trip costs covers all instruction including river reading, maneuvering, safety, kayak rescues, and surfing waves. Join us to learn a new skill, enjoy river camaraderie, and soak up the sun.
