Come join Baylor Outdoor Adventure Canoeing and Camping or Backpacking in the Grand Canyon and Paria Canyon. We will present information about the trips and answer any questions you may have.

Caving Trip: Whirlpool & Maple Run

Date: February 22nd
Deadline to Register: February 20th
Location: Meet in Front of SLC
Times: 8:00am - 7:00pm
Meet: SLC
Prerequisites: None
Pre-Trip Meeting: None
Equipment Provided: Helmets, Knee Pads, Headlamps
Bring: You, water bottle and a packed lunch.
Wear: Comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement and can get dirty. Long pants and closed toed shoes required. Long-sleeve shirts recommended.
Cost: $40
Min/Max: 6/10

Description: Join us for a fun weekend adventure of getting down and dirty in two of Central Texas' caving jewels. You will learn to love being subterranean while seeing incredible cave formations, and visiting a place where few dare to venture. No experience necessary. All equipment provided.

Transportation is not included. We ask that you read over the Baylor Driving Policies. Outdoor Adventure will provide e-mail directions, an e-mail list of students attending the trip to coordinate rides, and we will leave together in a car pool from the Student Life Center at 9:00am on Saturday morning. We may have a seat or two available in the campus recreation vehicle. The trip is over at 7:00pm and we will car pool back to Waco.

Reimer's Ranch: Rock Climbing

Date: March 1
Deadline to Register: February 27th
Location: Reimer's Ranch Park, Austin, TX
Meet: SLC @ 6:30am
Time: 6:30am - 8:30pm
Prerequisites: None
Pre-Trip Meeting: Yes
Equipment Provided: All technical climbing gear
Bring: You, two water bottles, closed toed tennis shoes for hiking, and spending money for dinner.
Wear: Comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement
Cost: $35

Description: Outdoor Adventure is headed down to the beautiful Texas Hill Country outside of Austin, TX. We will spend the day climbing Limestone at Reimer's Ranch park. This trip is open to any skill or experience level, from introductory climber to Spiderman. The cost includes all climbing gear & equipment, entrance into park, professional instruction, and good times climbing with friends! NOTE: Cost does not include transportation.

Transportation is not included. We ask that you read over the Baylor Driving Policies. Location: Grand Canyon National Park, AZ

Equipment Provided: Backpacking equipment, camping gear, professional instruction, food in the field and transportation

Location: Paria Canyon and Buckskin Gulch near Zion National Park, UT

Description: Join Outdoor Adventure for a week of backpacking in the Paria Canyon. Come for the amazing views, the quiet and stillness of the desert, and a chance to get away from it all. This is the longest continguous slot canyon in the galaxy. One of the most photographed canyons in the world. We could start in the snow and be 90F in the bottom, while seeing mountain sheep, petroglyphs, fossils, and dramatic vistas. This canyon is on the bucket list of most outdoor adventurers. This trip always fills fast, so sign-up soon.

Rock Climbing: Enchanted Rock

Date: Friday, March 28th-March 29th

Location: Enchanted Rock, Reimer's Ranch, & San Marcos River

Prerequisites: None
Pre-Trip Meeting: YES- Wednesday, March 26th. Campus Recreation Conference Room
Transportation: Included
Meals Included: Saturday breakfast and lunch
Camping: all campgrounds, permits, & equipment provided
Climbing: all equipment provided
Bring: Gear on provided equipment list. Bring Money for dinner on the way there and home.
Cost: $60 (cost includes: meals, instruction, equipment, campgrounds, and permits) Must provide your own transportation there.

Description: This trip is designed for anyone wanting to get a taste of adventure in the great state of Texas. We will begin our adventures as Enchanted Rock State Park where we will camp and then climb all day Saturday. This trip is designed to keep the beginner to the advanced adventurer entertained with great places, savvy & skilled instructors, and a great opportunity to meet others who love the outdoors.

Introduction to Whitewater Kayaking

Date: April 26th
Deadline to Register: April 22nd
Location: San Marcos or New Braunfels, TX
Meet: SLC
Time: 6:30am - 8:30pm
Prerequisites: Pre-Trip Clinic: April 22nd & 23rd 5:00pm at the Marina
Pre-Trip Meeting: Yes, during Pre-Trip Clinic
Equipment Provided: All boats, pfd's and paddles. Lunch will also be provided.
Bring: Towel, extra clothes, snacks, water bottle and money for dinner on the way home.
Wear: Comfortable clothes that can get wet and bring a change of clothes.
Cost: $50 (cost includes: lunch, instruction, equipment, and transportation)

Description: This trip is designed for the beginner and anyone who wants to spend the day on the water, learning about kayaking and having fun. Paddling will take place on the San Marcos River or Guadalupe River. The trip covers all instruction on the basics such as river reading, maneuvering, safety, kayak rescues, and surfing waves. Join us and learn a new skill, enjoy river camaraderie, and soak up the sun.
