Description: If you have an adventurous spirit, enjoy challenge, love winter scenery and want to make some amazing memories in the snow-covered mountains of Colorado, this trip is for you. No experience is necessary but this trip is very physical in nature as we will be snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in Durango and ice climbing in the world famous Ouray Ice Park. Our staff and hired instructors will provide all technical instructions. Snowshoeing is a fantastic way to experience the backcountry during the winter wonderland months in Durango. A winter sport that is both inexpensive and easy to learn, not to mention a great low-impact workout for stamina, strength, and balance! The Ouray Ice Park is a manmade ice climbing venue home to more than 200 climbs. The Park spans 1 mile of the Uncompahgre Gorge and with 7,500 feet of pipe and 150 showerheads, 150,000 gallons of water are sprayed on the canyon walls each night, which has made the Park one of the premier ice climbing locations in the world. Experience gliding across perfectly groomed terrain as you experience cross country skiing at the Durango Nordic Center with excellent undulating terrain and the variety of trails perfect for all levels. We will break one day from the snow adventures and visit the cliff dwellings in Mesa Verde National Park and tour the Headquarters of Osprey Packs in Cortez Colorado.

Cost: $550
Min/Max: 6/7
Description: Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is one of the Southwest’s many gems, but fortunately for us it lacks the hordes of tourists that swamp Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce Canyon National Parks. Its massive 1.8 million acres encompasses the upper Escalante River, a tributary of the Colorado River surrounded by a complex network of canyons, some wide enough for a charter bus and others too narrow for you and your backpack. We will travel 5 days and 4 nights backpacking. We will follow canyon bottoms and walk overland. This trip is for the adventure seeker who likes a challenge and wants to learn intermediate backpacking skills. We will hike from 3-7 miles per day on and off trails across the country side near the Boulder Town, Utah. This trip will test your physical and mental endurance. Know and respect your limitations.
