|Description||Interning in Bend for the summer is an intense REI on steroids kind of experience. You will go on guided whitewater rafting trips, float the Deschutes River, rock climb, cruise to the coast for a day of surfing and summit the 10,358 ft South Sister in the Cascade Mt. range.
But Bend is not just an amazing place to visit and play, it's a place to make an impact for Christ in a region considered one of the most non-churched in the country. It is a place to engage the arts in your faith, to find God in solitude, to learn about justice and God's heart for the vulnerable and to learn more about your unique gifts and be empowered to pursue your God-given calling.
Bend has become a destination spot because of the majestic snow covered Cascade Mountain range, rock climbing, rivers, hiking and mountain biking trails, pine trees and long summer days. (It doesn't get dark until after 10:00!)
In addition to the natural beauty, Bend is a hot spot for summer activity. The outdoor amphitheater on the banks of the Deschutes River hosts bands such as Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, and Coldplay. The weekly "Munch N' Music" is an all town "lollapalooza" of music, food and gypsy booths that you won't want to miss. Bend is progressive, liberal and artsy. Along with the rest of the Northwest, it is one of the most non-religious areas of the United States. Come and see why Bend is not only an amazing place to live and visit, but also why it is a meaningful and life changing place to do ministry.
Pastor Brandon Reynolds is spearheading this ministry and will be placing you with an appropriate mentor. Students will gather regularly to pray, debrief their time and status as an intern and discuss activities of the week.
We have great families in Bend who are anticipating your arrival. Why? To provide housing and to assist you with integrating quickly into Antioch.
Ten weeks total. June 3rd – August 1st
