Scholarship donors light the fires of quality! TEI seeks to make scholarships available on both a merit and need basis through the generous support of donors.
Need-based Scholarships
Not every student who deserves to participate in the i5 China experience can afford it. Your funding helps TEI to enlarge the pool of applicants and secure the highest quality team members – regardless of their ability to pay.
This part of our funding program has been launched by an endowed scholarship out of the generosity of Richard and Karen Willis. Richard (BBA '81, MBA '82) and Karen (BBA '85) are both enthusiastic Baylor alumni. The scholarship in their name is both for need and merit-based applicants.
Merit-based Scholarships
As well, we seek to engage top notch students who qualify on the basis of merit only. These are the high achievers who are on their way to success and – aided by the TEI commercialization experience – will exceed their own goals!
Milton (Buddy) Ellisor has led the charge, providing an Endowed Scholarship for either an Entrepreneurship or Engineering student of merit. Ellisor is CEO of PolySpec, Inc., an international supplier of corrosion protection coatings and linings. The company has sponsored an TEI team of its own. Deliverables included an opportunity analysis and intellectual property strategies for a new insulation product.
Imagine your scholarship recipient striding into the workforce with competence and confidence:
"When I started job hunting after graduation, the i5 Program is what made my resume stand out. Interviewers see that and instantly want to hear all about it. It's just so relevant."
Angela Fernandez, 2008 Entrepreneurship participant
"During interviews, recruiters constantly directed questions to the topic of my having led an overseas technology project. I'm spreading the word that i5 can be considered very applicable work experience and can set Baylor students apart from other applicants."
Troy Blankenship, MBA, 2009
Project Manager, HP Houston
