Baylor University Seniors Participate in the Nation's Largest Sales Competition

NCSC 2011122 of the nation's top sales students honed their skills in the 13th Annual National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC) hosted by the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University, March 4-7, 2011. Will May and Chris Cude represented Baylor University's Professional Selling program in this competition.

Besides competing against each other, the students from 61 universities networked with business recruiters from across the nation. About 35 corporate sponsors -- including Xerox, Verizon and FedEx-- interviewed these students at a career fair. Terry Loe, director of the Center for Professional Selling at the Coles College of Business, said he expected about 70 percent of the participating students to get a job. Other student representatives from Baylor engaged in the career fair at this competition: Dave Games, Ben Kessler, Hannah Kroening, Samuel Moore, and Sarah Shive.

"I am very pleased the NCSC and the Coles College of Business have become integral partners in the sales discipline in higher education," said Loe, the NCSC director and a former Baylor University faculty member. The NCSC, the world's largest collegiate sales competition, places students in simulated one-on-one sales call challenges. Each sales call is broadcast live to faculty and recruiters, who evaluate each student's performance.

"Having our ProSales students engage in sales competitions around the US serves as an important part of their professional and personal development. We appreciate the support provided by our corporate sponsors which allows us to travel to these competitions and support our students' development," said Andrea Dixon, the executive director of Baylor's sales center.

Baylor University's Center for Professional Selling is dedicated to excellence in sales education. Based in the university's Hankamer School of Business, the sales center is recognized as one of the premier information and leadership resources for collegiate students and sales professionals in the nation and recently celebrated its 25th Anniversary.
