Baylor Business Hosts November Waco Social Media BreakfastDec. 1, 2010
The Hankamer School of Business hosted November's Waco Social Media Breakfast titled "Scan it, Check in, Engage: Creating Interactive Experiences for Your Brand" Tuesday morning, Nov. 30 in the Jones Student Center. Communications & Marketing Director Cynthia (C.J.) Jackson and the department's Digital Communications Specialist Seth McCall made the presentation to over 40 attendees.
The breakfast focused on the business school's integration of QR codes, a type of barcode that when scanned with a smart phone connects to online content, and geo-location applications like Gowalla and Foursquare.
Attendees were able to do the tour of the School after the meeting.
Alumni and prospective students can use their smart phones to get a tour of Hankamer with the feature.
"We have thousands and thousands of prospective students every year," Jackson said. "This is a way to have consistency available 24/7. If it's open, you can get a tour."
Jackson showed Hankamer's integration of the interactive technology in printed items, events and the building. She stresses there is a lot of room for growth--even the annual Christmas card includes a QR code this year.
"We'd like to have even more interaction," McCall said.
The most important point the speakers stressed was the accessibility of new interactive technology for every organization.
"It's so easy; it's crazy," Jackson said.
