Baylor Bringing Stephen Covey to Austin Dec. 4

Executive MBA program cosponsors seminar by leadership development expert

Leadership development authority Stephen R. Covey will conduct a full-day instructional seminar on Dec. 4 in Austin at the invitation of the Baylor University's Executive MBA (EMBA) program in partnership with the LumaCore Corp. and in cooperation with Fortune magazine. Covey's discussion, drawing from his forthcoming book, will focus on "The New Habits of Effective People: The Future of Leadership."

The session will be conducted at the Austin Convention Center, where Covey will offer insight about ways in which organizations can engage people for success, how to build trust and openness, how to anticipate the four most chronic organizational problems and how to release the hidden talents of employees.

Internationally renowned as an author and lecturer, Covey is chairman and founder of Covey Leadership Center (http://www.covey.com/), a worldwide leadership development firm through which he has provided guidance for executives at Hewlett-Packard, the Walt Disney Co., Johnson & Johnson, IBM, Pillsbury, Procter & Gamble, Du Pont, Metropolitan Life Insurance, Aetna and other prominent corporations.

Covey also is founder of the Institute for Principle-Centered Leadership, a non-profit research group with a mission to develop and teach productive leadership principles and personal values. He is perhaps best known as the author of international best-selling books The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and Principle-Centered Leadership. Covey also is the creator of The Masters management development program and publisher of the Executive Excellence newsletter. His Seven Habits video and audio training programs have likewise developed a strong following.

Now Baylor students, affiliates and the Austin community will be able to see him in person on Dec. 4 in Ballroom A of the Austin Convention Center, 500 East Cesar Chavez Street. The program, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., will include lunch. The registration fee also includes a special-edition copy of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and a one-year subscription to Fortune magazine.
