Baylor Business to Host 2017 Lone Star Finance Conference

Sept. 7, 2017

Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business will be hosting the 2017 Lone Star Finance Conference. The conference will be held September 14-15, 2017 at the Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation.

The Lone Star Conference is a prestigious academic conference intended for presenting and sharing the latest research in fields of finance. It is open to all finance professors in the state of Texas. Currently, 75 people are registered to attend from 11 universities throughout the state of Texas.

Different universities in Texas have hosted the conference over a decade. This is the first time Baylor has had the honor to host it. Helping organize the event are Antonio Macias and Virgilio Zurita, both assistant professors of Finance, and Kristol Flanigan, Finance office manager.

"This is a great opportunity for Baylor to serve as a host. This event also aligns with the recent goals outlined by President Livingstone and Dean Maness in terms of increasing the presence of the Hankamer School of Business in the academic research arena," said Zurita.

Events for the conference span Thursday night and Friday. On Thursday, attendees are welcome to network at dinner. Friday's activities consist of breakfast and an opening session, then a full day of research presentations and discussion.
