Dixon Named to American Marketing Association Academic Council

Andrea Dixon, Ph.D., associate professor and the Frank M. and Floy Smith Holloway Professor of marketing at Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business, has been named to serve on the Academic Council for the American Marketing Association (AMA).

Dixon, who also is executive director of Baylor's Keller Center for Research and the Center for Professional Selling, will join 12 of her peers to represent the academic marketing community on the Council.

The AMA is the professional association for individuals and organizations who are leading the practice, teaching, and development of marketing worldwide. The Council is responsible for planning AMA academic conferences, advising academic special interest groups, reviewing AMA's four academic journals and awarding doctoral and dissertation awards.

"The American Marketing Association plays a pivotal role in driving knowledge and development for those engaged in the marketing field and the academy," said Dixon. "Serving on the Academic Council will allow me to play a role in shaping the global conversation. I hope to help the AMA further its value proposition and create new opportunities for impacting marketing scholars and faculty."

Dixon has a long legacy of leadership and service with the AMA. She served as president and vice chair of conference programming as well as co-chair of the 2007 Winter AMA Educators Conference.

Dixon joined the marketing faculty at Baylor University in 2009. Coming from an industrial background in research, planning and advertising, her research interests embrace behavioral issues related to sales, service and customer satisfaction. She has published award-winning research in numerous prestigious journals.
