Baylor Launching Healthcare Specialization Degree within EMBA Program in DallasMarch 19, 2012
Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business will launch a specialization in healthcare administration in August 2012 within the Executive MBA program in Dallas. This new program will become another important offering to business executives in Texas.
"Healthcare administration is a rapidly changing field, and there is a growing need for leaders who can effectively manage complex medical systems," said Gary Carini, Ph.D., associate dean of Graduate Business Programs at Hankamer. "We are seeing a wide diversity of interest from nurses and doctors and healthcare marketing, finance and insurance executives."
The Executive MBA program (EMBA) at Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business is ranked among the best programs in the world by Bloomberg Businessweek's 2011 Executive MBA ranking. Baylor is ranked 37 worldwide, and the program, which includes campuses in Dallas and Austin, also is ranked third among programs in Texas. The Financial Times ranked the program 35th in 2011, up from 39th in 2010, for United States-only based programs.
The 21- month program consists of 50 credit hours, with 36 hours of core MBA courses and 14 hours of healthcare-specific courses. Courses emphasize policy, economic, finance, technology, social, legal and ethical issues. Classes meet every two weeks from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Fridays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. One hallmark of Baylor's EMBA program is small class size, with a cap of 36 students to foster a collaborative and participatory environment.
