Top Texas Family Businesses Announced
Oct. 26, 2005Family businesses from across the state of Texas are slated to be honored Thursday, November 3 at the 16th Annual Texas Family Business of the Year' Awards Banquet on the Baylor University campus.
Baylor's Institute for Family Business sponsors the program, which is designed to recognize firms whose families demonstrate a commitment to their community and strong business and family values.
"As a university which values both family traditions and business accomplishments, we at Baylor are proud to back an event which not only honors the commercial success of these businesses, but also recognizes their commitment to maintaining strong family relationships," said J. David Allen, Director of the John F. Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship at Baylor's Hankamer School of Business.
This year's award winners are:
Small family business - Horaney's, Inc., Longview
Medium family business - Citizens 1st Bank, Tyler
Large family business - T.B. Butler Publishing Co., Inc., Tyler
Community commitment award - John Manlove Marketing & Communications, Pasadena
Family values award - Farias & Farias Customhouse Brokers, Laredo
Fastest-growing award - Power Service Products, Inc., Weatherford
Founders award - Sykora Family Ford, Inc., West
Well-managed award - The Expo Group, Irving
Heritage award - SGS Industrial Supplies, Brownsville
Finalists in this year's competition were: Claffey Pools, Southlake; Joslin Construction Company, Porter; Lifeguard Aeromed, Fort Worth and REDLEE/SCS Group, Dallas.
John D. Stites, II, CEO of J&S Construction Company, a family-owned business founded in 1957 in Cookeville, Tennessee, is scheduled to the be the evening's keynote speaker.
