Student Resources
First, we encourage our students to get involved in our local chapter of AITP Association for Information Technology Professionals. AITP is a professional organization for students planning careers in information systems or related professions. Intended to complement and expand classroom studies, AITP provides students with opportunities to exchange information with members of the information systems community and to explore various career alternatives. For those interested in developing their leadership skills, there are numerous opportunities for AITP officer positions. Along with this our Department sponsors the Epsilon Delta Pi honor society that recognizes outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in the field of computer information systems.
Information Systems majors are strongly encouraged to participate in an outside internship experience during the summer between their junior and senior year. Our department has a well-established internship program that helps guide students to the right internship opportunity for them. Through our internship program, students are able to gain valuable experience and class credit at the same time.
Our majors also have access to an abundance of career developing and advising resources through Baylor University. Such resources are available to help give our students an edge in writing resumes, interviewing techniques, and in job placement with leading companies. Students are strongly encouraged to avail themselves of these resources.
