Marketing Emphasis Area
The Marketing major offers a choice of four "emphasis" areas. These four "emphasis" areas are only recommendations. Students can choose any three marketing courses beyond MKT 3305, 4600, and 4330 to complete the 21 hours of marketing. The Marketing Department also offers three distinct majors in (1) Professional Selling, (2) Sports Sponsorship & Sales, and (3) Music & Entertainment Marketing.
Selling/Sales Management Emphasis
Students interested in a career in sales and sales management are encouraged to build a strong communications, negotiations, and management foundation in the courses recommended in the Selling/Sales Management Emphasis:
- Professional Selling (MKT 3310)

Choose one:
- Professional Selling II (MKT 4311) or International Marketing (MKT 4325)
Retail Management Emphasis
Students interested in a retailing career and students interested in building their own business are encouraged to build a strong communications, promotion, and store management foundation in the Retail Management Emphasis:
- Professional Selling (MKT 3310)

- Advertising Procedures (MKT 3320) orInternational Marketing (MKT 4325)
Advertising Emphasis
If you are interested in advertising, you have two options:
- Major in business/broadcasting (see courses here), or
- Major in marketing and take electives to emphasize advertising (below).
- The first option is concentrated more in advertising production. The second gives you other options in case you don't necessarily go into advertising. The key in either case is acquiring an internship with an ad agency. The marketing department has faculty who help directly with internships, including advertising.

Students interested in working for not-for-profit organizations are encouraged to build a strong communications, promotion, and services management foundation in the Not-for-Profit Emphasis:
