During March 19-23, 2012, the McBride Center for International Business at Baylor University will host its 6th Global Business Forum on the theme, "Women in the World Economy." Today, women account for about 40 percent of the global labor force and 52 percent of global university enrollment. Women currently serve as heads of state in 13 countries and hold CEO positions in 18 of the Fortune 500 companies. On the other hand, in developing countries, discriminatory practices that prevent women from working in certain occupations may depress labor productivity by as much as 25 percent. Our Forum will gather specialists from the academic, business, and public policy communities to explore and, when possible, celebrate the changing role of women. Most of these events are free and open to the public, so we hope you will join us for several days of discussion and personal interaction on issues related toWomen in the World Economy. |
