Hankamer Maintains 38th Spot in Undergraduate Business Program Rankings by BusinessWeek
- 3rd in Ethics -
Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business has been ranked among the top 25 private undergraduate business school programs in BusinessWeek's rankings of the Top 50 Undergraduate Business Schools.
Among private schools, Baylor ranked 24th. Overall, Baylor maintained its rank at 38th among all undergraduate programs, earning a grade of A in teaching quality, facilities and services, and job placement.
The Baylor undergraduate business program continues to enjoy prestigious spots in BusinessWeek's specialty rankings. In the BusinessWeek specialty rankings, the School ranks 3rd in ethics. Other business specialty areas that received high marks included accounting, business law, operations management, marketing, financial management, corporate strategy and micro economics, as published on the magazine's Web site in June 2006.
"Even with 39 new schools joining the rankings this year, and nine of them entering the top 50, we held our spot," said Terry Maness, dean of the Hankamer School of Business. "We earned the second-highest ranking within the Big 12 and the third-highest ranking in the Southwestern United States."
"It's not unusual for professors to give out their cell phone numbers to business students; classes rarely top 30 students," said BusinessWeek of the Baylor program. Student comments about Baylor's program were positive about the many hands-on learning opportunities, the high level of preparation for real-world work and the development of ethics skills.
To identify the best undergraduate business programs, BusinessWeek used five distinctive measures, including a survey of nearly 80,000 business majors at top schools and a poll of undergraduate recruiters. To better understand career outcomes, it also looked at starting salaries for graduates and how many each school sent to top MBA programs. Finally, an academic quality score - a combination of five measures including average SAT scores and faculty-student ratios - identified schools with the smartest, hardest-working, and best-served students.
