Financial Planning

The Financial Planning curriculum is interdisciplinary and offers students a broad education in financial services with emphasis on personal financial planning.  Areas of study include investments, insurance, income tax, retirement benefits, and estate planning.  Graduates of this program, which is registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board), are qualified to take the Comprehensive CFP Certification Examination administered by the CFB Board.

Students with a major in Financial Planning may pursue career opportunities in the rapidly growing financial services industry, including personal financial planning, private banking/trust, securities brokerage, insurance agency sales, and employee benefit planning/consulting.

Useful Electives
Risk management and insurance and Real Estate courses, especially FIN 4330.  Still other useful electives include FIN 4370, professional selling (MKT) courses, and additional accounting (ACC) courses.

Only persons registered with the CFP Board are permitted to sit for the CFP certification examination.  CFP® certificates and licenses are issued only by the CFP Board.
