Listed below with descriptions are the optional cultural activities of interest which are available at extra cost. Costs are listed in the application document.
Exotic Car Rental in Italy
This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for an automobile enthusiast or even someone who simply wants to say "I drove an exotic car while in Italy."
As you know, in the US, most cannot even rent an economy car until age 25. Not so in Italy! If you are 18 years old by June 19, 2012, and you have a driver's license, money, and sign a release, then you can rent an exotic car in Maranello, Italy. Note that you will be driving on the roads of Maranello and beyond, depending on the length of the rental and you will be accompanied by a professional driver, on the drive of your life! Not only is the drive phenomenal, but each car is equipped with a video camera and you can purchase a DVD of your drive as soon as you return. There is a range of Ferraris available and also a Lamborghini.
Since exotic car rentals are on a first-come/first-serve basis and time slots are extremely limited, you need to complete your application and turn in deposits as soon as possible. Since these are very expensive exotics, there is limited availability ability of each of the models.[Note that insurance is included as part of the rental fee.]
Theatre in London
London, England is one of the most famous venues in the world to see live theatre. Due to our extensive contacts in Europe, we are able to offer tickets for plays to seminar participants well in advance of our departure from the US for the seminar. The advantage of getting tickets well in advance is twofold: first, the best seats are typically sold out months in advance of London theatre performances (so it is highly unlikely to be able to get the best seats once we are in London), so early purchase ensures that seating is the best available and second, depending on student preferences as we go through the application process for the seminar, group prices may be available for some of the selected plays and these discounts could be as much as 30-40% off the ticket price. [Note that the highest-demand plays typically do not do group discounts, however.]
Canyoning in Innsbruck
Innsbruck, Austria is, for most seminar students, their most favorite visit during our entire program. The scenery is breathtaking and there are numerous outdoor activities for you while in Innsbruck. In order to maximize students' "time on the ground" while in Innsbruck, we are offering, for the first time, pre-paid admission for "canyoning" in Innsbruck for those interested. [Note that there are numerous additional outdoor activities available in Innsbruck such as paragliding, whitewater rafting, bungee jumping, etc., but canyoning seems to be an activity that most students want to do so we are providing the option of pre-paying for reservations to increase time for all activities in Innsbruck.]
If you are not familiar with canyoning, just think "whitewater rafting" except that you are the raft! There are quite a few pictures of canyoning in the seminar slide show and also on the European Business Seminar Facebook page.
Versailles in Paris
As is the case with most of the larger cities in Europe, there are many more attractions and activities than time allows for participation, so we have chosen some of the more popular activities and have made them available for you as pre-paid options. Versailles is one of those activities. Versailles is unique in that it is a distance from the city, beyond the subway system, and requires alternative transportation. So we are providing travel to Versailles by private coach, entry into the Chateau, and a guided tour by a native of France.
The Louvre in Paris
No museum is more famous in the world than the Louvre in Paris! You could literally spend days inside this cavernous series of buildings and not see all of the exhibits. It is a phenomenal museum, but guess what is its most famous limitation? If you speak and read French, not a problem because the French are very ethnocentric and they believe that, if you want to visit their museum, you had better speak and read French! But if you only speak English, you are out of luck - unless you have an audio guide, which we provide as part of this pre-paid reservation.
The Coliseum in Rome
For some, no visit to Rome is complete without a visit to the Coliseum. For others, it is not a big deal. While in Rome, we will do a very nice walking tour of the city as a part of the seminar program and, at its conclusion, if you would like to gain admittance to the Coliseum, we are providing a pre-paid reservation.
The Vatican Museum in Rome
As part of the seminar package, we do a tour of St. Peter's Basilica, which is one of the holiest places for Catholics in the world. It has the largest interior of any Christian church in the world and its displays and architecture are absolutely breathtaking. At the conclusion of this tour, we provide those interested the option of also taking a guided tour of the Vatican Museum.
