"Filling in the Gaps"

Student Profile - Johnson (LG)

Anybody who lives in the Dallas area, says Plano native Larry Johnson, knows about Baylor's reputation as a top notch school. Growing up, Larry says he had always heard about the quality of the student/alumni network and he found the intimate atmosphere at Baylor to be an advantage. The people at Baylor foster a "passionate and welcoming" environment that you just don't see at larger schools. "I know all of my classmates well," he says.

An avid reader, Larry earned an undergraduate degree in Literature. "Based on my background there were several gaps in my business knowledge, most notably in the areas of Finance, Accounting, and Marketing," Larry explains. Baylor's quantitative curriculum filled in those gaps. Aside from getting his MBA, Larry had another goal: to get enough sleep. A lofty goal to be sure for this father of two pre-schoolers who manages IT Projects for TEKsystems Global Services and works on the side dealing casino games.

Managing schedules and people are chief among the responsibilities associated with project management. "Companies want PMP's to have a 360 degree view of the company," Larry says. "Completing my MBA at Baylor has helped me grow personally and made me more valuable in an increasingly competitive job market."
