Master of Taxation (MTax)
Specifically for students pursuing careers requiring extensive tax knowledge, the MTax degree maintains an outstanding reputation among tax departments, accounting firms and major corporations nationwide. The MTAX degree is a 33-hour program, requiring 18 hours of graduate tax coursework and 15 hours of supporting graduate business (non-accounting) coursework. The broad tax coverage and exposure to other business disciplines give MTax students excellent preparations for working in a complex environment where knowledge of tax consequences is important. The 15 hours of graduate business courses can be used to obtain concentrated study in a second area of expertise or can be used to obtain a broad graduate business education.
Since the MTax degree's inception at Baylor in 1980, hundreds of students have entered the business world prepared for tax consulting, financial planning, business management, and a variety of other careers.
