As a primary or first-publication, archival journal, our purpose is to publish manuscripts that significantly advance the entrepreneurship field. Entrepreneurship includes but is not limited to: the creation of enterprises; management of small firms; and issues in family businesses. Other areas considered within the journal's scope are: international and cross-cultural studies; entrepreneurship in the not-for-profit sector; and especially interdisciplinary approaches to the study of entrepreneurship.
WHAT TO SUBMIT
Original manuscripts of either a conceptual or empirical nature that are the result of scholarly research and which contribute to the mission above will be considered. The words "original manuscripts" presuppose that the work has not been substantially published anywhere, including made widely available on the Internet for an extended period of time.
"How to" expositions are not acceptable. At this time we are not accepting manuscripts relating to entrepreneurship education. Also, we have discontinued publishing teaching cases in the journal.
WHERE TO SUBMIT
Manuscripts must be submitted via Manuscript Central. Use the "User Tutorials" available through Manuscript Central to answer any questions during the online submission process or contact the Executive Editor . Please closely follow the suggested guidelines below to ensure a smooth review process.
All submissions should use Times New Roman 12-pt font, double-spaced (except for the abstract and references), on an 8 1/2 X 11 page setting. Top and side margins should be at least one inch. The text of original article manuscript should be in the 25-30 page range; the entire submission including references, tables, figures, etc., should not exceed 40 pages; research notes and commentaries should not exceed 20 pages.. Separate appendices that may assist in the review process may be submitted, but will not be published.
The Title page should be uploaded separately to uphold the blind review process. The title page should contain the following:
* Title of the manuscript
* The name, position/title, affiliation, address, email address and telephone number of each author
* Any acknowledgments of assistance and notice of prior or pending presentations of the paper.
The first page of the manuscript should contain:
* a short descriptive title
* an abstract of not more than 100 words (single spaced)
* the beginning of the text.
Please remember to delete all author names and contact information, including acknowledgments that may identify the authors, from the submitted manuscript.
The manuscript must be typed, double spaced (except for abstract) and on one side of the paper only. Appropriate heading (centered) and sub-headings (left justified) should be used to segment the manuscript to enhance readability. Use bold-face for all levels of headings. First-level headings should be in all-CAPS and centered, e.g.:
Second-level headings should be left justified, no caps, bold, e.g.:
Third-level headings should be italicized and tabbed with the paragraph, e.g.:
Check that all second-level headings are preceded by a main heading, and that all third-level headings are preceded by a main and second-level heading.
Tables and Figures
All tables and figures (including charts and graphs) should be placed at the end of the manuscript, after the references section. Tables, charts, and graphs should be included only when they contribute materially to an understanding of the written presentation. They should be numbered consecutively and placed at the end of the manuscript. Within the body of the manuscript, indicate the placement of each table or figure. For example, if table one should be placed on page five between paragraphs two and three, indicate this by a centered callout:
Please use footnotes, not endnotes. Additionally, footnotes should be used only for clarification that is not appropriate for the body of the manuscript. If used they should be numbered consecutively and married at the appropriate place in the text.
Citations and References
Please make citations according to the latest edition of the "Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association" using author's(s') last name(s), year of publication, and when quoting, the page numbers. All publications cited in the text should be listed alphabetically by first author's last name in the References section (double-spaced) at the end of the paper.
All manuscripts will be reviewed by two members of the Editorial Review Board, including ad hoc reviewers when necessary and/or appropriate. Authors normally will be informed of the decision, including any relevant comments, within 40 days of receipt of the paper in acceptable format. Neither authors nor reviewers will be identified in the review process.
If accepted for publication, authors will be required to assign copyright of their paper to SAGE Publications. Copyright assignment is a condition of publication unless the Open Access option is selected. To assist authors an appropriate copyright assignment form will be supplied upon acceptance.
