The Center for Analytical Spectroscopy is co-directed by Professor Kenneth W. Busch and Professor Marianna A. Busch.
Professor Kenneth Walter Busch received his B.S. degree in chemistry (1966) from Florida Atlantic University and his Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry (1971) from Florida State University. From 1972-74, Dr. Busch was a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Professor George H. Morrison at Cornell University. He joined the faculty at Baylor University in 1974 and is currently Professor of Chemistry. He is the co-author and co-editor of the following books: Quantitative Analysis (Macmillan, 1979) with C. T. Kenner, Multielement Detection Systems for Spectrochemical Analysis (Wiley, 1990) with M. A. Busch, Cavity Ringdown Spectroscopy–An Ultratrace-Absorption Measurement Technique (American Chemical Society/Oxford University Press, 1999) with M. A. Busch, and Chiral Analysis (Elsevier, 2006) with M.A. Busch. For a complete list of publications and other information, see the curriculum vitae for Kenneth Busch.
Professor Marianna Anderson Busch received her B.A. degree in chemistry (1965, Phi Beta Kappa) from Randolph-Macon Women’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia. Following graduation, she spent a year as a Fulbright Fellow at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, before enrolling in the graduate program at Florida State University. She received her Ph.D. degree in inorganic chemistry from Florida State in 1971. From 1972-74, Dr. Busch was a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratories of Professor Fred McLafferty and Professor Earl Mutterties at Cornell University. She joined the faculty at Baylor University in 1977 and is currently Professor of Chemistry. Her major works include: Multielement Detection Systems for Spectrochemical Analysis (Wiley, 1990) with K. W. Busch, Cavity Ringdown Spectroscopy–An Ultratrace-Absorption Measurement Technique (American Chemical Society/Oxford University Press, 1999) with K. W. Busch, and Chiral Analysis (Elsevier, 2006) with K.W. Busch. She also serves as an editor for The World Book Encyclopedia.
