Industrial Collaboration and Research Opportunities
Analytical measurements play an important role in our modern high technology society, and are widely used in:
-
agriculture
-
food science
-
manufacturing
-
petroleum refining
-
pharmaceuticals
-
process control
-
quality assessment and control
Advances in analytical chemistry, however, are only really significant if they can be applied to real-world problems. To provide graduate students in analytical chemistry at Baylor University with challenging real-problems in analytical spectroscopy, the Center for Analytical Spectroscopy seeks input from industry to suggest areas where improvements in analytical methodology are needed.
Aside from fostering university-industry relations, the research program of the Center can benefit both parties. On the university side, industrial interest and support can strengthen Center grant proposals in analytical chemistry to outside funding agencies. On the industrial side, the Center can work on research problems of mutual interest to both parties. In addition, the Center can provide industry with a source of trained graduates that have experience in solving real-world analytical problems of interest.
At the present time, the Center seeks to establish collaborative research efforts with industrial partners in the area of chiral analysis (specifically CARMSD).
