The Baylor Advanced Research Institute (BARI)

The Baylor Advanced Research Institute (BARI) functions as a catalyst for creating new and emerging research clusters, interdisciplinary research programs, and industrial collaborations. Building the Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative (BRIC) discovery park was a natural 'next' step in advancing the research mission of the university.

With support from a diverse array of regional development groups including Texas State Technical College, the Waco-McLennan County Economic Development Corporation, the City of Waco, McLennan County, the City of Bellmead, the Bellmead Economic Development Corporation, Cooper Foundation, M.D. Anderson Foundation, Waco Foundation, and the Waco Chamber of Commerce, the BRIC concept was expanded into the Central Texas Technology and Research Park(CTTRP) with the BRIC as the first structure in the CTTRP.

BARI brings together the academic and research objectives of the university and engages the community by:

  • Providing increased opportunities for Baylor faculty and students to engage in cutting-edge research with industry;
  • Nurturing and protecting the intellectual property of collaborative research projects;
  • Facilitating the commercialization of university intellectual property; and
  • Participating in the economic development of the region.
