PUBLICATIONS

Kathy R. Hillman, associate professor and acquisitions

librarian, had an article titled "Marie Wiley Mathis: A Lasting Legacy" published in the Baptist General Convention of Texas periodical Brief Basics for Texas Baptists (October-November 2004). She had an article titled "When Tragedy Strikes, the Baptist Family Responds" published in Brief Basics for Texas Baptists (December-January-February 2004-2005). Sh had an article titled "Summer Family Missions: As You Go On the Go" published in Brief Basics for Texas Baptists (June-July-August 2005).

Dr. Merry McBryde-Foster, assistant professor of nursing, and Toni Allen, Baylor graduate student, had a co-authored article titled "The Continuum of Care: A Concept Development Study?" published in Journal of Advanced Nursing (Vol. 50, No. 6, pp. 624-632, 2005).

Dr. Andy Pittman, associate professor of health, human performance and recreation, had the following articles published: "Home-schooled Children and Interscholastic Athletes" in Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (Vol. 76, No. 5, pp. 9-10, 12, May/June 2005); "Fighting in Sports: Criminal or Not?" in Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (Vol. 76, No. 4, pp. 10-5, 15, April 2005); "What Should You Do When Faced With Sexual Harassment?" in Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (Vol. 76. No. 3, pp. 10-11, 15, March 2005); and a co-authored article titled "Peer Grading Passes the Supreme Court Test" in Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (Vol. 76, No. 2, pp. 10-12, February 2005). Co-author is Paul Batista, Texas A&M University.

PRESENTATIONS AND PARTICIPATIONS

Dr. Andy Pittman, associate professor of health, human performance and recreation, and Dr. Glenn A. Miller, associate professor of health, human performance and recreation, presented a co-authored paper titled "Legal Concerns and Approaches to Risk Management in Hazing Incidents" in April at an American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance convention in Chicago. Dr. Pittman presented a co-authored papers titled "Lord of the Rings: The Selling of the Rings" and "Using Logistic Regression Analysis to Predict Success in Hockey Spectator Negligence Cases" in March at a Sport and Recreation Law Association conference in Virginia Beach. First paper co-author is Barbara Osborne, University of North Carolina. Second paper co-authors are Paul Batista, Texas A&M University, and Dr. Dovalee Dorsett, professor of statistics and quantitative business analysis.

Michael L. Toon, assistant professor and librarian of The Texas Collection, presented "The Texas Collection of Baylor University: Resources for Civil War and Confederate Research" April 20 at a Sons of Confederate Veterans (Albert Sidney Johnston Camp #67) meeeting in Houston.

HONORS

Dr. Rossalie Beck, associate professor of religion, received the Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Contributions to Baptist History from the Baptist History and Heritage Society.

Dr. Andy Pittman, associate professor of health, human performance and recreation, received a Presidential Citation from the Safety Society of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
