Stay BearAware!

April 20, 2021

We at Baylor remain "BearAware" by avoiding and reporting phishing attempts, maintaining secure passwords, and protecting the university’s information resources. Here are a couple of tips that will help keep Baylor strong when it comes to cybersecurity.

(1) The IRS recently warned about a phishing scam using email messages that bear the IRS logo and use subject lines such as "Tax Refund Payment" or "Recalculation of your tax refund payment." The messages ask people to click a link and submit a form to claim their refund. If you receive these messages, do not provide any of the information requested. Delete and move on!

(2) If you receive a Duo Push notification on your device without logging into a system with your Bear ID and Password, Deny the request and select the "it seems fraudulent" option. If you routinely receive unauthorized Duo Push notifications it means your Bear ID password has been compromised, but your information is still being protected by two-factor authentication. Change your Bear ID password immediately at bearid.baylor.edu.

Contact HelpDesk+ by visiting Moody Library, emailing helpdesk@baylor.edu, or calling (254) 710-4357 if you suspect your Baylor account has been compromised.
